A place where the people are in covenant with the community to worship Christ”. Despising not the days of small beginnings because we know that GREATER is on the way!

Pastor Columbus Gray

Pastor Columbus Gray, Jr is a native of New Albany, Mississippi. Born to the proud parents of Columbus, Sr and Tonnie Gray. He is happily married to Lady LaShawn Gray and the father of one son Caleb and daughter Nadia.

Pastor Gray graduated from W.P. He knew at an early age he was called to the ministry, just unsure as to the capacity of ministry until he encountered many life-threatening events in his life. He accepted the call to preach the Gospel in October of 2001 and preached his initial sermon entitled, “To Obey or Not to Obey”. He received his certificate of license to minister from Hebron Cornerstone Church International (Pastor K. L. Warren). Pastor Gray served on the ministerial staff, intercessory prayer team, co-chair of the Men’s Ministry and as one of the teachers for the ministry’s weekly Church School. Pastor Gray credits his growth in ministry to the late Bishop Hardy L. Coleman, Sr. (Flatwood Grove Church of the Living God, Blue Mountain, MS), Pastor Karol L. Warren, Pastor Kerry A. Smith (Discipleship Tabernacle, Virginia Beach, VA) and the late Elder James C. Little, Sr. (Miracles of Faith Church of God in Christ, Chesapeake, VA).

After years of assisting pastors and other ministries, the Lord spoke to him and Covenant Community Worship Center was birthed (January 2015). Services were initially held in the living room of the family’s home with his wife and son as the first members.  The Lord impressed upon him in March of 2015 to move to his former office (C & N Enterprise) on Pardue Court in Virginia Beach. The office’s capacity was that of twenty people. The ministry seemed to be growing slow, but Pastor Gray knew the Lord had called him to pastor and he stood firm on the church’s foundation scripture Isaiah 43:4, “Since thou wast precious in my sight, thou hast been honourable, and I have loved thee:  Therefore will I give men for thee, and people for thy life.”  He preached in that small office as if preaching to thousands, until the power of God filled the room.  Eventually, people came to visit, some joined and left while others came and stayed. One Wednesday night during Prayer and Bible Study Chat the Lord spoke to Pastor Gray and laid on his heart that it was time to move out of the small office and to go look for a space large enough to house the souls that were coming. Being Spirit led, Pastor Gray strategically was in pursuit of a building, making sure he was in tune with the Word of God. After months of praying and seeking God for the perfect location, December 2017 Covenant Community Worship Center moved into our current facility located in Chesapeake on Live Oak Drive.

After years of owning and operating his own commercial cleaning and mobile detailing business the Lord spoke to him and said it was time to REST! He taught a series on “rest” and Holy Spirit opened a door for him to do just that. Without the stress and pressure of running and maintaining a small business, he accepted a position as a service manager with Toyota Checkered Flag.

He is currently enrolled at Union Christian Bible Institute, Inc. under the auspices of Dr. D.A Peace, pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Theology and serves as Senior Pastor of Covenant Community Worship Center, a place where the people are in covenant with the community to worship Christ.

He lives by his favorite scripture, Proverbs 3:5-6 which says, “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding but in all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”
